Summer is the time for road trips. Despite gas prices, many people are still planning on driving hundreds or even thousands of miles between now and Labor Day to make the most of their summer. But no road trip is complete without a mix of great tunes in the car stereo. Here are five of the “must have” songs for your road trip.
1. Free Bird – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Is there anybody over the age of 12 who can’t sing along when this song plays? In addition to being a great song, it’s also long enough to get you through the state of Texas.
2. Life is a Highway – Tom Cochrane
Any song about life or highways is great for a road trip. This song has both elements and a catchy beat.
3. Breakfast at Tiffany’s – Deep Blue Something
You might not want to admit it, but this is a catchy tune. Who can hear this song without singing along? You know you’ve done it, too.
4. Amarillo by Morning – George Strait
A song about getting to a destination by morning time. It’s not only fun to sing along with this country tune, but it’s also motivational when it simply feels like you’ve been driving too long
5. I’ve Been Everywhere – Johnny Cash
No road trip mix would be complete without a song from “The Man in Black.” And what better song from this iconic legend than one that talks about traveling everywhere?
Of course, this list is only a few favorites and is by no means exhaustive. You might have something completely different in mind. But just consider these for your next road trip and the time will simply fly by.
